Unwrapping Joy

Posted: December 26, 2019

We had a wonderful Christmas here at Union Gospel Mission of Tarrant County this year. We hope your holiday was filled with as much joy as ours.

First, we turned our boardroom over to Santa’s elves – also known as generous volunteers- and filled it with brand new toys. Parents staying with us were able to choose multiple gifts for each of their children and have them wrapped in festive paper and big bows. Making them even more special on Christmas morning. Each child also received a special gift bag from Santa, filled with special items picked out just for it by volunteers who “adopted” a child for the holidays.

We also remembered our adult residents in a special way. Each one received a gift bag filled with winter clothing, toiletries and other essentials donated by generous friends of the Mission. There was also a special Christmas concert and party, including lots of treats and surprises.

Then, on Christmas Eve and Christmas day, we served delicious holiday meals to guests and residents in our dining hall – and of course we decked the halls with plenty of cheerful décor. After the meal, guests from the street were invited to receive a Christmas gift of their own.

Thank you to everyone who made this Christmas special for our residents and guests. Whether you prayed for us, served a meal, wrapped a gift, donated essential items or supported us monetarily, we could not have done it without you. Thank you!
