Christmas 2017

Posted: December 26, 2017

For most of us, Christmas is a special time of year filled with love and joy. However, for those facing homelessness, the holidays aren’t always bright and cheerful. Which is why at UGM-TC this year we worked diligently to give our residents the Christmas experience they deserved.

Thanks to the generosity of the community we were able to turn our boardroom into a “Toy Store” where our parents were able to select multiple gifts for each of their children and then take them to a wrapping station run by volunteers. This way the kids had many presents to unwrap when Santa arrived at the Mission, making the gifts that much more special.

We didn’t forget about our adult residents either! They were made to feel extra special with a care package full of winter clothing items, toiletries and other essentials donated by the community. It meant a great deal to them to know that so many people care about them. They also attended a special concert and Christmas party with tons of treats.

On Christmas Eve and Christmas day, we served a special meal in our dining hall to residents and guests. Afterwards, our guests from the street were invited to our Warehouse where they received a special Christmas gift of their own.

Thank you to everyone who had a hand in making this Christmas so special for our residents and guests. Whether you prayed for us, served a meal, wrapped a gift, donated essential items, or supported us monetarily, we could not have done it without you!
