If you’re interested in helping at this time, we require that you attend an orientation session before you can be scheduled to volunteer. For a list of orientation dates and/or to schedule volunteer time, please contact the Volunteer Office at either 817-332-2922 or mschein@ugm-tc.org. Please make sure to let us know which opportunity you would like to participate in (see below for a list of available opportunities), although nothing can be guaranteed. Please be aware that there may be restrictions on how many volunteers we can have participate in some of the opportunities. All opportunities are filled on a first come, first serve basis

STANDARD OPPORTUNITIES :


KITCHEN SERVICE
Time: 7 Days a week, breakfast/lunch/dinner

  • Breakfast Serving: 5:30am to 7:30am
  • Lunch Serving: 11:00am-1:00pm (2pm Sun)
  • Dinner Serving: 4:00pm to 7:00pm

Commitment: One time, ongoing
Volunteer Type: Individual, group

Assist our kitchen staff in preparing and serving meals. Please note that we can only schedule a total 10 volunteers for each meal.

TUTORING
Time: 5:00pm to 7:00pm, Monday-Thursday
Commitment: Ongoing, weekly
Volunteer Type: Individual

If you would like to have a huge impact on our children, become a part of our tutoring program one night a week.

WAREHOUSE
Time: Monday-Friday, 9:00am to 4:00pm
Commitment: One time
Volunteer Type: Individual, group

Duties include sorting and organizing donated clothing, hygiene items, and house wares.

CHAPEL SPEAKERS AND MUSICIANS
Time: Afternoons and evenings, 7 days a week
Commitment: One time, ongoing (if ongoing, volunteers must attend a 6-hour training course)
Volunteer Type: Individual, group

We welcome individuals and groups who are interested in sharing God’s love by leading a chapel service or sharing their musical talents. If you would like to participate in one of our 32 weekly chapel services, please contact our chaplain, Stanley Maneikis, at 817-334-0894 once you’ve attended orientation.

HEALING SHEPHERD CLINIC
Time: 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday-Friday
Commitment: Varies
Volunteer Type: Individual

Licensed medical professionals and/or people with “hands-on” patient experience interested in volunteering at the Healing Shepherd Clinic should contact Susan Baer at 817.338.8432 or sbaer@hsc-tc.org.

DEVELOPMENT OFFICE AND GENERAL ADMINISTRATIVE HELP
Time: Monday-Friday, 10:00am to 5:00pm, as needed (especially October-December)
Commitment: 2 or more hours, monthly
Volunteer Type: Individual

This position will vary based on our administrative needs. Duties may include organizing information, filing, copying, assisting with mail, shredding, & answering phones.

ADOPT-A-ROOM
Time: Monday-Saturday
Commitment: One time
Volunteer Type: Individual, group

Help make a resident feel at home by making over their room! You can paint the walls, hang drapes, bring new linens for the beds, decorate, and/or lay rugs. For more information please contact the Volunteer Office.

GARDENING
Time: 8:00am (or later depending on the season) to 12:00pm, Mondays
Commitment: One time, ongoing
Volunteer Type: Individual, group

Help keep Union Gospel Mission looking beautiful and come help the Master Gardeners of Tarrant County take care of our 7-acre campus on Mondays. Activities include: pruning, weeding, planting, watering, etc.

SPECIAL EVENTS
Time: Various
Commitment: One time, ongoing
Volunteer Type: Individual, group

Plan a special event for our residents. Ideas can include: arts and crafts, game or movie night, and birthday or holiday-themed parties. We welcome creativity!

OFF-SITE
Time: Anytime
Commitment: One time, ongoing
Volunteer Type: Individual, group

Whether it’s writing letters of encouragement, helping make sack lunches, making place mats for holidays or special events for our dining hall, or hosting a donation drive for our on-going needs, there are plenty of opportunities that can be done off-site. Please contact the Volunteer Office.
