Vicky found the support she needed in the Women’s Residential Program at Union Gospel Mission of Tarrant County

A Woman’s Place: Programs for Lasting Change

Women make up 38% of the homeless population in Tarrant County. Victimization and abuse are two main reasons they find themselves — often with children — on the streets. In addition to basic needs — affordable housing, adequate incomes, and health care — many need mental health treatment and alcohol or substance abuse rehabilitation. We partner with other organizations for a holistic approach to recovery.

UGM-TC provides the following for women:

  • Non-traditional housing program
  • Breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily
  • Educational opportunities
  • Referrals to various social service agencies within the community
  • Spiritual Care programs – Interdenominational devotionals and daily chapel services
  • Daily opportunities for Christian guidance/counseling
  • Work readiness program for residents
  • Transportation – bus passes for those needing to go to appointments and jobs
